Overview
"Located in the Sakarya neighborhood of Polatlı, the Sakarya Women Heroes Museum highlights the bravery of women who played significant roles during the Battle of Sakarya, one of the most decisive moments of the Turkish War of Independence.
The museum is housed in a historic building where Halide Edip Adıvar stayed during the war. It also served as the working space of the Commission for Investigating the Greek Atrocities, led by Halide Edip Adıvar, Yusuf Akçura, and Yakup Kadri Karaosmanoğlu.
This commission was established by the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye to examine the atrocities committed by the retreating Greek forces in the Haymana, Polatlı, and Sivrihisar regions following the war.
Today, the museum offers visitors an insightful and compelling look into the courage of women in the National Struggle and the collective memory of the period."
